Like bruises in my skin, repetitive daily bumping blooms as flowers somewhere.
The artist's repetitive daily bumping becomes Mungkot (Bruise flowers). Data-driven colorful flowers bloom as an actual daily bumping happens by the artist. Like bruises on their skin, the visual memory of daily bumping becomes a flower that blooms and slowly disappears.
By using IoT sensors that detect live bumping data in various strengths and places, this artwork generates Mungkot flowers in different shapes, sizes, and colors.
[ BoTree ] transforms with real-time data. The world in this artwork connects with the real-world event. Unlike the real world that has a sun and a moon, two red suns arise when there is an emergency alert. On a memorial day for the deceased, two moons – this world’s moon and the other world’s moon – rise together to symbolize our mortal life.

How does data taste? Let me have a bite!
Recently, interest in big data is growing as a technology related to the 4th industrial revolution. However, there is a tendency to think of big data as a difficult field such as computer science, artificial intelligence, and mathematics. A shift in perception is needed to increase the accessibility and intimacy of the data closely connected with our daily lives.
A motion graphic video of deliciously chewing food is being played through the display screen. The pixels in the video are made up of news that are currently the most interesting and change in real time. The Taste of Data provides the audience with a different experience of consuming news along with motion graphic images that tastefully chew data on their smartphone.
I have only visited Seoul a few times, but its energy is vivid in my memory. Each scene shows a different moment in Seoul that has moved me - usually featuring people working hard, and living beautiful lives - even the street cats are busy. I haven't been to Seoul in a couple of years now. So, to me, the images are stuck in a magical snow-globe, with small details changing, like a childhood toy that comes to life in the night.
Based on the scientific research on the negative impact of the level of fine dust and fine particular matter on the national suicide rate, I visualized the ups and downs of suicide rate in relation with the air quality level through objects. 20 people commit suicide on average in Seoul every day, and there are 20 bids in the video.
One’s practice of birth and death repeats every day, with the rising and falling sun and the waxing and waning moon. She starts the day with a child pose before Seoul's dawn, which leads to a lotus posture, and from dawn to dusk she practices each pose of the Sun salutation. After dusk in Seoul, she practices a posture that responds to the current moon status from the moon salutation, which is followed by a lotus posture and a corpse pose. I wish to remind myself and all of us to live in sync with the rhythm of nature, which is often forgotten when surrounded by digital displays and artificial light.
You can see an aquarium filled with water and a fish. The size of the aquarium seems quite small for a single fish to swim. The height of the water depends on the data transmitted. When the water decreases, the fish can barely swim. What does minimum water mean to a fish? What is the minimum space for one person's need for living? The artist visualizes housing problems by comparing them to fish and aquariums.
